BACK TO SCHOOL!

How can it be September already? It’s the start of a new school year, and it’s the perfect time to send out a reminder that many of our brilliantly talented authors and illustrators are availabe for school visits. Check out the details on our Schools pages, for information about our authors, the things that they offer, prices and also how to run a school event. Our schools co-ordinator, Kat Jones, a teacher and education specialist, is on hand to answer any queries about the events, please do email her on kat@guppybooks.co.uk with any queries.

Here’s a testimonial from a happy school in Warwickshire, after their visit from the Brothers McLeod. These events can be truly life-changing.

Dear Myles and Greg, (aka THE BROTHERS MCLEOD)

We wanted to say a genuine thank you for the fantastic experience you gave our school today.

From the very first moment we encountered Knight Sir Louis, your stories sparked something special. They ignited curiosity, excitement and a genuine love of reading that quickly spread throughout the school. Children couldn’t wait to read more, share the books with friends and talk about their favourite moments—often with plenty of laughter along the way!

Your visit truly brought everything to life. The assembly inspired pupils across the school, and the workshops gave the younger children a real insight into how stories are created—from first bonkers ideas to characters on the page. Seeing their creativity flourish, guided by your enthusiasm and expertise, was incredibly special, especially the Evil Cheeseburger and Baddie Banana! The chance to meet you both and have books signed made the experience even more memorable for them.

One of the most powerful moments for us as a school was seeing the pride on the children’s faces as they shared their own Knight Sir Louis-inspired work with you. It meant a great deal for them to connect with the creators of the stories they’re reading—and it’s a moment Darcie will always remember.

The impact of your visit will go far beyond the day itself. You have inspired a lasting buzz around reading, helped build confidence in storytelling, and created memories that our pupils will carry with them for a long time.

Thank you for your creativity, your imaginative ideas, and your brilliant illustrations—and for sharing your wonderfully quirky, laugh‑out‑loud stories with us. We can’t wait for the next one!

You have made a real difference to our children—and for that, we are truly grateful.

With sincere thanks,

Joy Russell
